Incomparable founder of Indian Cinema- Dada Saheb Phalke


Indian Cinema is one of the oldest film industries in the world and it is well known to everybody that the Indian cinema industry in the early 1900’s when there were only English movies being screened. It was the time when a man Dada Saheb phalke initiated the journey of Indian cinema. He was very much fond of cinema world and he felt the need of the movies based on the Indian characters and hence he initiated to make an Indian movie. Dada sahib Phalke’s journey was quite struggling. At the age of 2 he completed his education and married. As he was very much fond of movies hence in the weekends he used to go to watch movies in a theater based in Mumbai’s Colaba region. In those 1900’s there were no Indian films being made and hence no body had ever thought about it. Dada sahib
hinted this concept of making Indian movies after watching the movie based upon Jesus Christ. He thought that Indian viewer were having great interest in cinema hence if
there were some movies which would be made on the Indian mythological stories it will bring a great attention. And hence soon he started working for making the Indian movie.
He watched the Jesus Christ movie for more than 4 times in a weekend and after that he decided to go to England for learning the film making a there were not any technology available in Indian for film making. Hence in the year 1909 he returned to England. There he studied the film making and practiced on various projects and after coming back to India soon he started to film making. His first story was based on the king ‘Raja Harishchandra’. As it was the most popular story since long time hence he thought the right way to envision it for the Indian viewers. But as it was the new concept he had to face a lot of struggles. He wanted to get a lady for the role of king’s wife but at that time unlike today no lady was ready to play the role in movies. But this great person did not have exhausted s he had the way for his will and he made her son to play the king’s wife role. After 3 years of making this film was ready. Although it was a silent movie of those time but it was a new concept of Indian cinema’s foundation. In 913 the film was screened and it got tremendous attention of the Indian population. Later on he started to make movies on the story based upon the Ramayana and other mythological stories.
Hence dada sahib initiated the Indian cinema’s journey and today Indian cinema is anticipated as the biggest film industry in the world.
