The true lovers Bollywood music will always remember the eternal voice of Kishore Kumar whose everlasting voice never failed to mesmerize the listeners. The legend is still considered the epitome of singing in Indian cinema.
Kishore Kumar was born on 4th August, 1929 at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh to Kunjhalal Gangoly and Gauri Devi as the youngest among four. His elder brother Ashok Kumar was an actor and his sibling Anoop Kumar also followed him to the acting profession.
After changing his real name Abhas Kumar Ganguly, Ashok Kumar, entered into Bombay Talkies as a chorus singer where his brother was already working. He started his acting career as a hero in the film Andolon (1951).After facing some difficulties in the initial stage; he finally succeeded as a comic hero.
He was the first one to introduce yodeling in the Indian cinema which was imbibed in the traditional way if music in the initial periodHe has sung many devotional songs in 1970’s when he was on the the top of his singing career. The song “O jag ke rakhwale humein tujh bin kaun sambhaale” in Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein(1964) will soulfully touch our hearts.
Kishore is a multi faceted personality. who proved his proficiency as a singer, .Though apart from singer, his other facets as an actor, lyricist, composer, producer and director have not reached the limelight we cannot deny his proficiency in them.
He was married four times. He has got two sons, Amit kumar and Sunit Kumar. Kishore Kumar was a man with eccentric behavior and remained mystic even to his close circle friends. He was also noted for defying his directors and following the principle of “no work, no money”. Nevertheless, the divinity and sweetness in his immortal voice will continue to hiss in the hearts of his fans forever.
